WATCH: ‘Oppenheimer’ Featurette ‘Taking pictures For IMAX’

Forward of the upcoming theatrical launch of Oppenheimer, Common Footage has launched the Taking pictures for IMAX featurette, giving audiences a glimpse of how the epic thriller was made alongside particular interviews with the solid and crew.

Written and directed by Christopher Nolan (Interstellar, Inception), Oppenheimer thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic eponymous man who dangers destroying the world to reserve it. 

The movie stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer and Emily Blunt as his spouse, biologist and botanist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer. Matt Damon portrays Normal Leslie Groves Jr., director of the Manhattan Venture, and Robert Downey Jr. performs Lewis Strauss, a founding commissioner of the U.S. Atomic Power Fee. Florence Pugh performs psychiatrist Jean Tatlock, Benny Safdie is theoretical physicist Edward Teller, Michael Angarano is Robert Serber, and Josh Hartnett is the pioneering American nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence.

Primarily based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning guide “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer” by Kai Chicken and the late Martin J. Sherwin, the movie is produced by Emma Thomas, Atlas Leisure’s Charles Roven and Nolan. 

Oppenheimer is filmed in a mix of IMAX 65mm and 65mm large-format movie images together with, for the primary time ever, sections in IMAX black and white analogue images. The visible results, led by Manufacturing VFX Supervisor FX Andrew Jackson and Manufacturing VFX Producer Mike Chambers, are crafted by DNEG, with Giacomo Mineo performing as VFX Supervisor.
